First Post!

Hello there!

First of all, thank you for visiting this blog. I have been wanting to start my own whisky repository for quite a while now and the catalyst for actually getting on with it definitely has to be my recent trip to Islay to visit the 8 great distilleries on the island, which I will be talking about in detail in the posts ahead.

My intention for this blog would be to share news, reviews, opinions and basically have a proper discussion on everything to do with whisky. I do not discriminate, so this blog will cater to everything from single malts, blended malts, blended whiskies, single grains and even blended grains.

The other reason for starting this blog has to be my interest (or obsession) in amassing a collection of whiskies which are either unconventional, hard to find or downright rare. That collection is currently 6 bottles strong and I fully intend to add on to it as time goes by.

As always, comments and suggestions are more than welcome (as long as it is relevant to whisky) and I look forward to sharing more information with you very soon!

  1. Welcome to the community! Islay is as good an inspiration as there can possibly be. I was inspired to start up to this blog after a trip to Scotland last year (including Islay which I absolutely adored!) I look forward to reading a post or two. In the mean time, have you tried any Tasmanian whisky?

    1. Hi Nick, thank you very much for the welcome! I believe Scotland was the catalyst for the both of us in this sense =D

      I tried Sullivan’s Cove Double Cask when I was studying in Melbourne and was very impressed by the quality and how drinkable it was.

      It is rather pricey though but definitely worth the money heh.

      1. You’re not wrong about the price. Tasmanian whisky can get really expensive. Try my local drop ‘Hellyers Road’ if you ever get the chance – it’s more affordable and contains many unique flavours – even among Tassie whiskies!

      2. Defs will mate! I should be heading back to Melbourne for a break sometime in the middle of the year and will look at trying Hellyer’s Road, Lark, Nant and Overeem while I’m there!
